Mass Effect (4)

軽量版フォント。

ME1日本語フォント(2012/04/05版)

とにかく、サイズを小さくすればその分軽くなるのは分かったので、文字数を通常使わない第二水準漢字とSFものには使わないだろう漢字をごっそり、削除。

さらにフォントによってもかなりサイズが変わるので、比較的データが小さくなるIPAexフォントのゴシックに変更。

一番小さくなるのはMSゴシックだが、さすがに配布できないので、IPAex版のみ。

ほぼ気にならない状態にするにはサイズで800kくらい。文字数だと2000字。。。無理。

  1. me_tlk_toolに関してですが、こちらにコメントさせて
    頂きます。アンパック(tlk_tool -u)の方はうまく機能し、
    BioTlkFile → BioTlkFile.csvに展開でき中身を見ても
    問題ないようですが、パック(tlk_tool -p)の方は、
    BioTlkFile.csvを全く弄らないでそのままパックし直し
    てもサイズが半分くらいになり、うまく機能せずエラーを
    吐きます。何かやり方が悪いのでしょうか?
     なお、BioTlkFileはGlobal_tlk.upkの中の物ではなく
    Mapsフォルダ内のSFMファイルを展開した中にある物
    です。宜しくお願い致します。

    1. tlk_toolにはマイナーなバグがあり、手元のものは修正済みなので、それが原因かどうかはわかりませんが、週末に整理して更新しようと思います。
      こちらでちょっとだけ試した状況では、サイズが半分になるなどの減少は発生しませんでした。ちなみに、問題が発生したパッケージファイル名とtlkファイル名を教えてもらえますでしょうか。

    2. Global_tlk.upkの中のGlobalTlk_tlk.BioTlkFileはアンパック
      リパックとも上手くいくようす。試したのはMaps → NOR →
      DS1フォルダ内のBIOA_NOR10_01_DS1.SFMを展開して
      できたnor10_joker_Dフォルダ内のtlk.BioTlkFileです。
      ゲーム初期のノルマンディー内のジョーカーの会話が
      あるようなのでこれでやってみました。前述したように
      アンパックは上手くいき、BioTlkFile.csvで間違いなく
      会話内容が確認できましたが、書き換え後のリパックが
      上手くいきません。分かり難い説明で申し訳ありませんが
      宜しくお願い致します。

      お蔭様でリパックの方も上手くいき、会話部分も日本語表示の
      可能なことが確認できました。
      それにしてもこのようなツールを作れるなんて凄いですね。

  3. OK, ignore the last question. I've already contacted 0dd14lab and they provided a tool specifically for Mass Effect 1 UPKs. I'll inform you when I'm done translating. A question: under what nickname am I supposed to put you in credits? Without your work the translation wouldn't be possible at all.

    1. Thank you for about credits. My nickname is jpmod. Just FYI: Game strings for ME1 are packed in GlobalTlk.upk and SFM files under Maps directory. SFM files which include subtitles are around 400. So that you need to unpack those file, translate and repack. That's hard work... Anyway, I hope you to complete it.

  4. I'm having trouble inserting the dialogue text. I'm translating Pinnacle Station and currently hit a brick wall: the dialogue texts are still English. Is there any way to unpack/repack the SFM files, or somehow override them? Thanks.

  6. Hi! I'm a member of a translation group, we want to translate Mass Effect Trilogy but we cannot make a new font for the game.
    As I see, the ME1 font is in .bioswf files( very similar with swf), I can make an embed swf file but don't know how to modify first 32 bytes of the .bioswf files. Can you help us out?

    And the .pcc fonts files of ME2 and ME3 too?

    1. Hi, swf has two type of header magic. One is for compressed format and the other is for uncompressed. Just change the header magic as follow:

      1. Compressed swf: 'FWS' -> 'CFX'
      2. Uncompressed swf: 'CWS' -> 'GFX'

      But when I recreate the BioSWF files, I dont' know how to modify first 32 bytes to fit with my new SWF files.
      For Example: http://imgur.com/KY0oCYF and http://i.imgur.com/LMEgMU5.jpg.
      Now how can i make the new BioSwf files from the SWF files I've made. And how to pack them into a new "GUI_SF_Fonts.upk" file(I used hexeditor to modify it but the game could not start, it crashed when startup).
      I really need your help!

    3. Sorry, I've misunderstood...
      BioSWF has some additional headers(32bytes) for UE. As you know, you need to change two 32bit int values in it' headers.

      0x14h: (data size of swf file) + 4
      0x1Ch: (data size of swf file)

    4. Thank you so much! I made it. And a question, can i get your nick name in our credits?
      We planned to translate Mass Effect Trilogy, by now, we can translate ME1, but ME2,ME3's font files are very difference with ME1. I only know the .PCC files and .swfmovies files are very similar with .UPK files and .SWF but don't know how to make them.
      If you know how to make the font files of ME2 and ME3, please help us too.

  9. We're have translated mass effect 2 and we're planning to translate mass effect 1 but gont files does not contain some of characters. While searching net I stumbled across your blog and I saw your mass effect 1 font file. How did you create this font file? Sorry, I don't know Japanese and google translate is crap. Can you help? A small english tutorial with necessary files would be very good. Have a nice day.

    1. I've not checked ME2 fonts. But, it uses the font format of scaleform gfx. gfx file format is as same as adobe flash format except for header magic. If you find font files in ME2, I think you can create new fonts. This is my article for creating scaleform fonts. http://jpmod.blogspot.jp/2012/02/scaleform.html

  11. Hi I ask something to you. How to create new a BioSWF file? I opened and edited bioswf files, but I could not save file with Jpexs decompiler. Cut first 32 byte to where writed "CWS" then edited and saved file, but this time takes error when start game. how did this font? Please help me japanese bro!
